Fleur specialises in soft-IP (trademarks, copyright, tradenames, and design rights) and in commercial contracting, with a particular focus on selective distribution, agency- and franchise agreements, often in an international context. She has experience in both commercial and contentious issues. Her work brings together protection of intellectual property with the practical, day-to-day agreements that allow businesses to grow, scale and operate with confidence.
Fleur is known for her social, practical and constructive attitude when working with both Dutch and international clients and loves ever-evolving sectors such as retail, fashion, design and entertainment. She is always excited to translate the legal world for the creative people.
She helps clients build and manage the contractual frameworks they need, always tailored to the specific dynamics of the relationship and sector involved. Alongside this, she advises on protecting and exploiting trademark, copyright and design portfolios, so that clients’ commercial arrangements and their IP rights reinforce one another. Fleur helps clients to build and preserve the relationships that matter to their business while fiercely protecting their own position. Even the strongest relationships, however, can end up in a dispute. A courtroom may not be everyone’s preferred setting, but it is exactly where Fleur excels. There is a certain kind of calm that settles over a room the moment Fleur starts to plead her case. If your company ever finds itself in litigation, that is exactly the energy you want in your corner.
Prior to joining Leeway, Fleur worked at the Amsterdam office of UK law firm Bird & Bird. Before this, she obtained a master’s degrees in Intellectual Property Law at Utrecht University and a bachelor’s degree in Global Law at Tilburg University.
