Meredith specialises in all areas of ‘soft-IP’ – trademarks, copyright, tradename, domain name, and design rights – acting on both the contentious and commercial sides. She is regularly involved in major and complex IP litigation proceedings, where she combines strategic legal thinking with practical courtroom experience. A significant part of her practice involves representing artists, publishers and record labels in enforcing copyright law, negotiating and enforcing author contracts, and protecting music rights. This work brings together her legal expertise with a genuine appreciation for the creative industries.
Meredith loves working at the cutting-edge of a rapidly evolving field – what first interested her in information law was the way that it constantly changed as technology advanced. She also appreciates the practical nature of intellectual property law, as it relates to the design of real-world objects, creative works, and innovations that play a daily role in enhancing our lives. She particularly enjoys working with creative people – from artists and designers to entrepreneurs and innovators – and finds great satisfaction in helping them protect and exploit the fruits of their creativity. Unsurprisingly, then, her advice is rooted in the real-world – a hands-on lawyer, she is always looking to deescalate challenging situations and find workable solutions to commercial problems.
Before joining Leeway, Meredith undertook LLMs in both Private Law and Information Law, and held student internships at two major Dutch law firms, where she focused on IP, consumer and privacy law.
